The first city that we visited in Italy was Venice and we fell in love with this country. And now we lost count of how many times we went to Italy.
Venice has a very special place in our hearts because we travelled by plane for the first time to this city.
Venice is one of the most important and famous cities in Italy. It is in the northeast of the country and it is known as the “City of Canals” or “City of Masks”.
Venice has a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by 400 bridges. You definitely lose track of how many bridges you cross in a day because there are so many.
This city was one of the most important and wealthiest cities throughout history because it was one of the centres of commerce during the Middle Age and the Renaissance.
It was in the Renaissance period that some artistic movements were born and this city is definitely full of beautiful art, architecture and monuments!
We got lost in the tiny streets full of history but we visited the main monuments attractions of the city. We felt like we were in the movie “Casanova”!
After taking the Vaporetti (water buses), we visited the Piazza San Marco, the Doge’s Palace, the St. Mark’s Basilica and saw the Grand Canal that was full of gondolas. It is exactly has we imagined it was.
It was an experience we will never forget! Venice was the city where we ate the best pizza of our lives at 11:30 pm in a tiny street from a little shop with just a pizzaiolo and a wood-fired oven. It was perfect!
Have you ever visited Venice? What do you think about this city?
Tells everything in the comments!
